The short version
- No account
- No ads
- No tracking
- No internet use
- Nothing shared
Guess the Flag doesn't collect, send or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Everything the game remembers stays on your phone.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Android game Guess the Flag (package name com.fredgross.bandeiraquiz) and to this website, guesstheflags42.com. The game is published by Frederico Gross (“we”). You can reach us at guessflag42@gmail.com. In the game, you can open this policy from Settings, the gear button on the home screen.
What we collect
Nothing. The game doesn't ask you to sign up or sign in. It doesn't ask for your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera or any other personal information, and it doesn't read your advertising ID or any other device identifier. It has no analytics or crash-reporting tools, and it shows no ads.
The game doesn't use the internet. It doesn't have Android's internet permission, so it can't send anything anywhere.
The only permission the game asks Android for is vibration, so that the phone can buzz when you answer. It gives the game no access to any information, and you can turn vibration off in the game's Settings.
Language
The game comes in English, Portuguese and Spanish, and it picks the language from your phone's language settings. It does this on the phone alone: it doesn't use your location, and your language setting isn't sent anywhere. If your phone is set to another language, the game is shown in English. On Android 13 and later you can also choose a language for the game alone in your phone's settings, and Android, not the game, keeps that choice.
What the game keeps on your phone
To remember where you left off, the game saves your progress in its private storage on your phone:
- the total XP you have earned, which raises new continents;
- the list of flags you have already seen, which fills your flag album, and how well you know each of them;
- your best result in each way to play on each level, and the matches you finished without a mistake, which give your medals and suns;
- the points you have made in all your matches, and the total you had when you raised the World Tour flag, which set your crest in the Ranking and the looks you can use in the Workshop;
- a few counts behind the ribbons, such as how many answers you have got right and how many practice rounds you have played, and which ribbons you have already won;
- your record in each World mode, and in Falling flags for each continent;
- your result in the daily challenge on each day you played it, which hangs that day's pennant on the month's string;
- the looks you chose for the scenery, including the Ranking scene on the home screen, and what each page of the Planet has already shown you, so that it unlocks only what is new;
- your settings: whether sound and vibration are on.
Only the game can read this, and none of it is sent to us or to anyone else. You can erase your progress at any time with Erase progress in the game's Settings, or erase everything by clearing the game's storage in your phone's Android settings (under Apps) or by uninstalling the game.
Android backup
If Android backup is turned on, your phone may save this progress to your Google account and restore it on a new phone. Google makes and keeps that backup under Google's own privacy policy. We can't see it.
Google Play
You get the game through Google Play. Google handles your purchase and installation under the Google Privacy Policy. Google Play Console gives us overall figures, such as how many people installed the game or how often it crashed. These figures don't identify you.
Sharing
We don't share information with anyone. We don't sell, rent or trade it either. We have none to give.
You can share your own results: when you tap Share, the game draws a picture of the result on your phone and opens Android's share menu. You choose where it goes, and the app you pick sends it, not the game, which still can't use the internet. To hand the picture to that app, the game keeps it in its private storage until you share the next one. A challenge code you share holds only which flags to play, nothing about you.
Children
Because the game collects no personal information from anyone, it doesn't collect any from children either.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the LGPD in Brazil give you rights over your personal data, such as seeing it, correcting it or deleting it. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to show, correct or delete. The only data is on your phone, and you are the one in control of it.
This website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising, and it loads its fonts and images from this same site. Like any web server, our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs of visits, such as the IP address and the time, for security and reliability. We don't use them to identify you.
Changes to this policy
If the game changes in a way that affects your privacy, for example by adding accounts or ads, we will update this policy before that version is released and change the date at the top.
